Arguably one of the best-looking sports cars currently in production and one of the best-sounding pieces of engineering, the Jaguar F-Type should be on every car collector's bucket list. I know it isn't the most reliable car in the world, and it is certainly not the fastest, but the F-Type remains one of the best bangs for the buck in its category.
Therefore, I am very sad to tell you that Jaguar has announced the upcoming retirement of its beloved F-Type. From what we know, 2024 will be the model's last production year. No replacement has been announced yet, but it is something we are looking forward to, hopefully.
The Very Last
The Jaguar F-Type came out in 2013 as the new sports coupe/convertible in the British manufacturer lineup. It took the place of the XK to become one of the most successful sports cars of the brand ever. More than 30 000 units have been sold in America in the last eight years. From the beginning, the Jaguar F-Type has been identified as one of the most beautiful cars on the market and even in the entire car history. The F-Type received a significant facelift in 2019, which changed its personality quite a bit. However, it remained a true eye-catcher.
Celebration Time
Of course, with its history and heritage, the Jaguar F-Type won't leave before giving us a spectacular show's end. A 75th anniversary is already available in Europe, but we don't have any information about commercialization in North America.
A Plethora of Power Units
Since 2014, many engines have found their way under the bonnet of the British sports car, starting with a relatively modest turbocharged 2.0 liters 4-cylinder. This engine came out a lot later than 2014 as the new base engine for the F-Type. Before it, there were turbocharged 3.0 liters V6. However, the most popular engine offered in the Jaguar F-Type has always been the supercharged 5.0-liter V8.
In 2023, the V8 will be the only option available for the British sports car. There are two variants with a power that range from 444 to 575 hp. We don't expect it to change much for the 2024 model unless Jaguar prepares a special edition with even more power to celebrate the end of an era for its sports car.
